Monday July 8th

Do you remember what Hereford was like
in 1984?

Reminisce with footage recorded around the city, and also some TV footage of events that happened back then:
The Queen and Prince Phillip visiting Bulmers.
Prince Charles and Princess Diana visiting the Cathedral, and the opening of Maylords.
There is even a Christmas special.
Were you there?

Come and join us at the Barrels, back bar.

Film provided by Chris Ogleby, original footage filmed by his father Dennis Ogleby.

Chris Ruffe from the Scout Hut, at Scouts Corner gives us the lowdown on some local scout history, as we bid goodbye to the old scout hut.
Pictured on the poster, Hereford Scouts, gas masks at the ready, with ARP controller Cecil Coney, right, and Deputy Commissioner Major Bailey during the last war. (Scout Stan Davis, who loaned the photo to Herefordshire Lore, middle row, end, left). The county scouts were active in both world wars under the direction of the chief constable, guarding bridges, telegraph lines, and carrying messages.
