As part of the Hereford University Centre 2018 Programme of Events, there will be a free talk on Tuesday 6th March on 'Researching Your Family History':
RESEARCHING YOUR FAMILY HISTORY: A GUIDE by Clare O’Grady Taking place in the Events Suite at the Hereford Campus, Herefordshire & Ludlow College, Folly Lane, Hereford Tuesday 6 March 2018 Arrivals from 6.00pm for 6.15pm start, with 7.30pm close Recent technological advancements have meant that many resources are widely available for us all to access, however with so much information out there it can seem like a daunting task. Clare O’Grady is holding a free, public lecture, exploring some of the key archival sources available in order to trace family history. Using examples from her own research, Clare’s talk will examine the main sources for family history research in England and Wales, specifically: where to start; census records; civil registration; parish records; online sources and local sources. Tips will also be given on how to optimise research and avoid common pitfalls, as well as suggesting further avenues of research. This is a great opportunity for anyone who is intrigued by their family history, and would like to gain inside knowledge to help with their research. Clare is an experienced family history researcher with a MSc in Genealogical, Paleographical and Heraldic studies. She is also a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG), and member of the Register of Qualified Genealogists. To RSVP by Tuesday 27 February and to keep up-to-date with future lectures and events, please contact: E: [email protected] T: 01432 365 431 |
