Five new people registered on Saturday and a good 50 or 60 people visited the exhibition and 20 came to the film, despite the weather. Thanks to everyone who helped especially Christine, Ian, Lorna, Shaneagh, Brian, Colin, Linda, David and Eileen.

We’re hoping to meet on Wednesday May 13 at the Volunteer, 7.30 to:
1. plan for the History Day in July;
2. arrange for more interviewing;
3. collecting more material for exhibition;
4. feedback on the website. (One visitor wants to see a history of the Pavilion posted there)

Meanwhile Esme Fosberry has loaned some photos of her days at Sankeys - we’ll post them on the website in the next few days.

Don’t forget: this Monday night (April 13) at The Barrels (side room in the Courtyard), 7.30, history evening with half an hour of old film shot by Ted Edwards in the ‘60s. We’ll also hear about some local interviews, an update on our website and lay plans (that means volunteers!) for Hereford Carnival (May 2) and Hereford Historic Day (July 11).

Plans are afoot

21/5/2014

An informal meeting of the group brainstormed future ideas tonight, lubricated by the usual excellent fare from The Volunteer.

Individual research into specific local buildings, streets or events will be fed into the website and this will then provide material for further exhibitions, talks and publications.

In the immediate future, areas of interest include Godwins Tiles, a local air crash, the 'Volunteer's Volunteer' and Empire Day events.

Reports on exciting developments around the row ditch behind Park Street, and news from the Rotherwas Munitions project will also be researched and published.

Plans were discussed for a presence at forthcoming events such as the Castle Green Fayre.

So stay tuned for more, and if you would like to contribute, you can email [email protected], or pop along to our next informal Volly gathering on Wednesday 18th June at 7:30pm.
