An informal meeting of the group brainstormed future ideas tonight, lubricated by the usual excellent fare from The Volunteer.
Individual research into specific local buildings, streets or events will be fed into the website and this will then provide material for further exhibitions, talks and publications. In the immediate future, areas of interest include Godwins Tiles, a local air crash, the 'Volunteer's Volunteer' and Empire Day events. Reports on exciting developments around the row ditch behind Park Street, and news from the Rotherwas Munitions project will also be researched and published. Plans were discussed for a presence at forthcoming events such as the Castle Green Fayre. So stay tuned for more, and if you would like to contribute, you can email [email protected], or pop along to our next informal Volly gathering on Wednesday 18th June at 7:30pm. 107 visitors signed in to our pop up exhibition at the River Carnival. A great first event for the BHG.
Comments in the visitors book included: "This has made me feel v. proud of joining this excellent community." "Wonderful to learn about the past of this wonderful city." "So fascinating for an 'old Herefordian - thank you." "A lovely buzz about the place - its caught the people's interest." "Wonderful exhibition - but needs more publicity!" |
