In the BHG planning meeting on the 2nd April, it was decided that the following events are to take place this year:
Thursday 11th April 6 for 6.30pm at HARC - The Asylum at Bartonsham talk by Jane Adams. Details can be found here. Thursday May 16th 5.30pm at Sulva Barracks Nelson Street - Launch of Bill Laws's book Herefordshire’s Home Front in WW 2.The Regimental Museum will be also open. Saturday June 29th 10am to 4pm - Historical Hereford Day at Castle Green. July - Sutton Walls Hill Fort Walk. Details to Follow. Tuesday August 13th 7pm in Castle Green - Castle Green Talk by David Whitehead. Saturday August 20th 2pm - Walk and Talk down the Wye. Start at Victoria Bridge and finish at the Greenway Bridge. Tuesday 3rd September 7.30pm at The Barrels - A Social History of Hereford in Post Cards by Chris Over. Tuesday 7th October 7.30pm at The Barrels - The Basque Refugees in Hereford by Lita Power. Tuesday 5th November (to be confirmed) 7.30pm at The Barrels - The Jarvis Bequest by Huw Rees. Tuesday 3rd December (to be confirmed) - Mr Garrick by Huw Rees. Showing at the Conquest Theatre, Bromyard, on Wednesday 3rd April at 7.30pm (90 minutes, £5)
Carousel Herefordshire Life Through a Lens Following Stories from the Hop Yard and Chewing the Cud, this new Catcher Media film delves deep into the Derek Evans photographic archive from the 1950s-1970s to bring you the stories behind his photographs of the county, from the May Fair to Hereford United, from the Fownhope Heart of Oak Walk to jazz clubs, from childhood to politics, and much more. The Herefordshire Life Through a Lens project explores the huge collection of photographs (790 exhibition images and hundreds of prints) and 200,000+ negatives of Herefordshire photographer Derek Evans, digitising the archive and creating an oral history from Herefordshire people about the memories they evoke. There will be a talk on the Asylum in Bartonsham at HARC (Hereford Archives and Records centre) on Thursday 11th April - this was originally scheduled for the 10th April. It will be held in the Education Room.
You can arrive between 6pm and 6.30pm for refreshments and the talk will start at 6.30pm. The estimated finish time, after questions, is 7.45pm - 8pm. All are welcome. Just a reminder that Marsha 0'Mahony will be giving her River Voices talk on the river Wye this Tuesday - 5th February 7.30pm at the Barrels.
All are welcome. Free but donations gratefully received. On New Years Day, there will be a history walk and talk around the local area. This will include interesting facts about pubs, churches, shops, the old asylum and hospital, and more.

There are two events taking place at the end of November and in December: Herefordshire Tree Forum are running the Herefordshire Tree Week. The city branch of Herefordshire Wildlife Trust are holding a Christmas Wildlife Quiz.. Details are below.

On Monday 10th December at 7.30pm in Castle Green Pavilion, David Whitehead will be giving a talk on the history of Castle Green. Details are below: The 6th November talk to launch Marsha O’Mahony's new River Voices book has had to be postponed.
